Boston Seaport District Engagement Proposal
BOSTON SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER
I’ve photographed many wonderful surprise engagement proposals in Boston’s Seaport District. The view of the city skyline from Fan Pier Walkway is one of the best, and it’s no surprise many choose to propose to their loved one while taking a stroll together along the Harborwalk. But this isn’t the only spot in Fan Pier Park to spring the big question. Just a few steps in the other direction, on the opposite side of Courthouse Way, is a grassy stretch of park overlooking the water — and it’s the perfect spot for a touch of privacy in an otherwise busy and popular location.
My client picked out this spot and arranged for his sister to arrive an hour before the proposal to set up a picnic blanket, complete with champagne. I waited close by, keeping an eye on the blanket while pretending to take pictures of the harbor up until the big moment arrived. They arrived soon after, he kneeled, and she said yes! After popping the question — and the cork — we enjoyed the remainder of our time together taking engagement pictures along Fan Pier Park, being sure to include plenty of images with that signature view of the city. As a final surprise, both of their families sprung from their hiding spot nearby to join them in celebration, making for a very sneaky night for all involved!
Planning a surprise proposal can be a bit nerve-racking. After all, you really want everything to come together and be perfect. There’s location logistics to consider, light, and plenty of other details that go into pulling off a smooth proposal — and nice pictures!
