Boston Public Garden Engagement

BOSTON PUBLIC GARDEN ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

The summer flowers have arrived at Boston Public Garden, and it’s a beautiful season for pictures in the city! Nari & David decided on a weekday morning engagement session at Boston Public Garden, which made for not only wonderful light, but fewer crowds to work around! It’s true, most photography sessions are scheduled for later in the afternoon, but if you shoot early enough in the morning, you’ll enjoy a bright, crisp look that delivers colors that pop. Regardless of the time of day, I always like to shoot with the sun positioned behind you, that way you’re not squinting with the sun in your face. This means, with a morning session, our backgrounds will generally be to the east… while a late afternoon session will be with backgrounds to the west.

With an engagement or family session at Boston Public Garden, we’ll typically start the shoot on one side of the pond and then work our way around the perimeter of the water to take in a variety of spots. And even though I’ve shot many sessions at Boston Public Garden and Boston Common, I’ll still arrive at least a half-hour before our session to see which spots work best given the light conditions that day. Scouting the location beforehand is also a smart way of making sure areas you intend to use aren’t closed off, under construction, or being used by another photographer. Better to find this out in advance rather than all of us walking to a spot together only to find it’s unavailable.
