Manhattan Public Hotel Wedding Photography

BOSTON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

A change of scenery for this wedding — New York City! Working through the unpredictable logistics of COVID, the bride and groom were finally able to secure a venue booking at Manhattan’s Public Hotel, and what a great location to celebrate with family and friends! With its contemporary stylings and swanky energy, the hotel made for the perfect backdrop for wedding photography, complete with a vibrant sanctuary garden and an open rooftop with sweeping views of the city.

I drove into Manhattan from Boston a day early to allow for time to explore Public and get a sense of the surroundings and visualize possibilities for portrait locations. With its wall to ceiling windows, the bride’s penthouse suite couldn’t have been more ideal for natural light photography — a bright, airy glow flooding the room from all directions. And then, up to the rooftop for the ceremony, with the Empire State Building to the north and One World Trade Center to the west — just a stunning panorama for picture taking.

What I love most about photography is the diversity of possibilities: from a cozy, intimate rural wedding one weekend to a gathering on an urban high rise on another. It’s also why I choose to photograph a variety of subjects: families, seniors, newborns, maternity, weddings. There’s so much to be learned from each speciality, and the experiences from one niche of photography are always coming into play with another.

Thank you N + C for inviting this Beantown photographer to the Big Apple — I had a blast!
