Boston North End Engagement Proposal

BOSTON ENGAGEMENT PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER

I love photographing sessions in Boston at night! The city takes on an energy and color that is unique to nighttime sessions, transforming familiar locations into something entirely different when compared to their daytime counterpart. An engagement session or proposal at night is also seasoned with a sense of intimacy and romance that can sometimes elude sessions scheduled during the day. Why? Well, most of the crowds have gone home! Popular engagement locations in Boston are often crowded during the day, and when staging your proposal, you’ll need to take that into consideration. If you or your partner want to propose in a typically busy location, but prefer fewer eyes on you during your big moment, definitely consider proposing at night.

Not all locations are equal when it comes to nighttime sessions. We’ll want to choose a spot with sufficient artificial light, which can source from lamps, signs, and even passing traffic. I avoid using flash during night sessions to maintain a natural look, as well as to remain unobtrusive when capturing the surprise itself. Boston’s North End is a fantastic spot for nighttime engagement proposals, not only for the light, but the alleyways and textures bring wonderful dimension and atmosphere to the images.

J. proposed to E. on the corner just outside of Ciao Romano, and a “big thank” you to the staff of the restaurant for unexpectedly gifting the couple with champagne after their big moment. And to top off this night of surprises, J & E.’s friends popped out of the shadows right after the proposal, cheering them on and tagging along for a night of celebration.
