NEWBURYPORT NEWBORN LIFESTYLE PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER

When M & L were looking to schedule a newborn portrait session for their two-week old twins, it was important that the images also capture and incorporate the twins’ older siblings. M & L also wanted to try something a bit less formal than the studio portrait session they had done with their other children in the past.

As a photographer who works on-location with natural light, I suggested we stage the portrait session at their home, where all the children could remain in contact with each other and be themselves. Yes, we would still do some casual posing with the twins on blankets and in baskets, but overall the session would be more organic and document the family’s experience of welcoming two new bundles of joy into the home — a lifestyle newborn portrait session.

Generally, these sessions are best scheduled two to four weeks after birth, when the little ones are still apt to be laying still and sleeping. You’ll also want to sync the session as much as possible to the infant’s feeding schedule — the more content their bellies, the more likely they are to settle for some time with the camera.

Thank you again, M & L, for inviting me to document this special time in your lives!
