Boston City Hall Civil Ceremony

BOSTON CIVIL CEREMONY PHOTOGRAPHER

Springtime in Boston is the season that never quite seems long enough. Specifically, the cherry blossoms and magnolias — like their fall foliage counterpart — are a fleeting treat, and timing a wedding or portrait session to align with the backdrop of peak color is a mix of luck and Mother Nature’s blessing. But generally, scheduling a springtime photo session in the Boston area in the window of mid-April to early May is usually a safe bet when it comes to taking pictures alongside the flowering trees, daffodils, and tulips.

I had a fantastic time working with this couple, our afternoon starting with photographing their civil ceremony at Boston City Hall. Marriage ceremonies at Boston City Hall typically last ten to fifteen minutes, and you may be wondering how to pair your intimate vow exchange with an opportunity to capture wedding pictures typically photographed at longer celebrations. The good news is, even with a smaller elopements, you can still schedule an hour or two of picture-taking to enjoy after the legal proceedings are done.

What’s great about Boston City Hall is it’s central to many wonderful photo locations, such as Beacon Hill, the North End, and Boston Public Garden. Or, we can hop in the car and head to another location, just like I did with this couple, where we visited a few spots in South Boston meaningful to their relationship, which always makes for the perfect setting choice when creating pictures unique to your story.
